Thank you
Thank you thank you thank you
This is scheduled to be an off-week here at Butt + Chair, but I’m sending this one out anyway because today, nearly a decade on from when it began, is pub day for Enormous Wings, and I have lots of you to thank. Some of you got to read the book early, and you’ve said kind words in blurbs or videos, on social media or review sites, in much appreciated private notes to me. Some of you pre-ordered the book or entered a giveaway or put it on hold at your library. Some of you read this newsletter or followed me on social media, even though social media is not my strong suit. Some of you ordered the book for your bookstore, talked about it to your customers or staff, pitched it at sales conferences, sang its praises to one another. Some of you told your friends or added it to your bookclub schedule or put it on your to-read list. Some of you interviewed me for your podcast or your newsletter or your website. Some of you designed a gorgeous cover:
Some of you designed the inside and copyedited out all my stupid mistakes and caught the typos and made the words look amazing because you get that, never mind what they say, how words look is also important. Some of you made a terrific audiobook out of my raw materials. Some of you did mailings or graphics or ads or videos or design work or all of the above. Some of you answered my emails and my many, many questions. (This was a big job.) Some of you got — are getting — the word about this book out into the world. Some of you edited this book and talked and considered and got it and sent love and edited some more and made it better and stronger than it was. Some of you shepherded this book and accompanied it along its way. Some of you were cheerleaders of this book — and of me — from the beginning and are cheerleading and supporting and loving it (and me) still.
And that’s just the beginning really. Some of you will buy this book. Some of you will read it. Some of you will host me at your store for an event and get your customers to come out for it and welcome all of us to your bookshop, which is the best kind of place to be welcomed. Some of you will attend those events. Some of you won’t have an event near you and will write to me to complain about this fact, which cheers me every time. Some of you will laugh while you read this book or cry or get angry or think about things differently than you would have otherwise. Some of you will get completely lost in this book and lose track of time and forget to make dinner or get out of the car. Some of you will post about this book to your followers online or recommend it to people you love or give it to your mom for Mother’s Day.
So this off-schedule post is just to say, effusively, thank you. So much. It all means the world. I appreciate you, and I am so grateful this book is at last leaving my hands (and brain and heart) for your hands (and brain and heart). I hope it will speak to you. I hope I will see you along the way. But mostly, truly and deeply (and honestly a little madly) thank you, thank you, thank you.
Book tour has grown and may again. Cute graphic below but — easier — here’s the updated schedule with links.
First up is Seattle tonight. Third Place Books (Lake Forest Park) 7pm with the lovely Karen Maeda Allman and also cookies. So please come because it’s going to be a great time (and otherwise I will have to eat all the cookies).
See you on the other side.
Thank you all.
Love Laurie

Congratulations, Laurie!! We'll be listening to the audiobook on our road trip back to Washington State. Last year, we listened to One, Two Three and it kept us glued the whole way from California. Can't wait!
Excited for this book, but bummed that the closest you'll get to me on your tour is Plano Tx (9 hours away), and that I'll actually be there 10 days later. Dang!
